All works, literary or artistic that have an individual character are, in principle, copyright protected.
The scope of copyright protection varies greatly from one country to another. In France and Italy for example, copyright protects “mass productions,” such as porcelain tableware or mass produced clothes, provided that the forms or drawings of the mass produced items are considered original. In Switzerland, originality in itself is not sufficient to obtain protection; the work has to be (almost) unique and in England, copyright protection can be obtained through registration.
